Did you know that people seeking jobs can get scholarships from the state to upgrade their skills?
To know the eligibility for the scholarship, the candidates need to enroll into the local WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) agency. There is at least one WIOA agency in each county in the state of California. A few of them are:
- NOVA Job Center in Sunnyvale, Ca.
- Work2Future in San Jose, CA.
- One stop career centers in Alameda and Berkeley, CA.
- Workforce Development in San Francisco, CA.
Here is a link to a list of WIOA offices in California.
Upon enrollment, the candidates undergo a 3 hour training that outlines the steps and eligibility for applying to a financial sponsorship. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for a student to be qualified for training funds through a WIOA agency.
The eligible courses and the training providers are listed under California Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) on www.caljobs.ca.gov
